&content_popup=Eduardo San Juan designed the lunar rover or moon buggy which was used during the 1971 Apollo XV lunar mission. As a tribute, he was called the space junkman. He was a graduate of mechanical engineering at Mapua Institute of Technology in 1948. He also took nuclear engineering at the University of Washington, USA in 1955 His knowledge of and fondness for machines started with his tinkering in his father's auto repair shop from the time he was fourteen. Lockheed Missile and Space Corporation hired him in 1966 and he was able to produce many concepts for the new field of space technology, advance aeronautics and nuclear weaponry. His concepts were chosen and utilized by experts including those from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration or NASA of the United States. Eduardo San Juan was also able to work on various projects. These are the US Strategic Defense Initiative or the Star Wars Program, SkyLab, Polaris Missile, lasers and the design and building of a space bus for ferrying communications and earth-observing instruments into orbit.
