He earned his degree in fine arts from the Liceo de Manila Art School and later on studied at the Escuela de San Fernando in Madrid His most memorable works are paintings of country scenes, especially those that captured the quality of Philippine sunlight He won first prize in the 1939 New York Fair over painters from seventy nine countries He died on April 24, 1972.
